Reading Time: 3 minutes

One of the prime motives of education is making children aware of the real world and developing their minds in such a way that they can address those issues. When this is initiated at a young age, this can approach their minds in the direction of true growth. The fourteen years of schooling are the foremost years when the child’s mind can be put in the direction of thoughtfulness, creative ideas, and awareness. This needs a school curriculum enriched with practical and real-world issues. Here are some of the real-world issues to be included in the school curriculum:

Climate Change: No matter how much we progress, something we should not stop caring about is the environment. And at the pace by which environmental issues are rising, it has become rather a necessity to get children aware of climate change, caring about it, and conserving it from a young age. The best boarding schools in India can incorporate this by organizing events like environment day, plantation drives, speaking against climate change, debates, etc.

Health Care: It is an old saying that ‘health is wealth’ but it certainly shows at every stage of life, health holds an equal prominence. Healthy habits and taking care of health is a value children should know from their early years. This includes organizing health camps, seminars, etc. where children can understand healthcare issues prevailing and how to be active and fit.

Teenage Issues: Children become teenagers during schooling and undergo various changes both physically and mentally. At this particular age, they need support and the right information so they don’t get diverted and get comfortable about changes happening. Teachers can be a great support during this time by talking to children as guiding a person in class or one-to-one.

Cultural Diversity: One of the prime goals of school education is developing children into global citizens who respect, appreciate, and can be a part of every culture. Promoting cultural diversity in schools helps achieve this goal. The best boarding schools in India can foster this by exchange programs, celebrating different cultures, festivals, etc.

Violence: Many times children witness some things but they don’t know what action to take for it. Violence in any form is one such thing. Children should be aware of violence types and how they can stand against them, complain about it and who is the concerned person to talk about it. The best boarding schools in India are safe places for students where they can understand the difference between right and wrong.

Managing Emotions: Emotional intelligence is essential skill children need to learn to excel at school, work life, and every other sphere of life. Managing emotions doesn’t mean not expressing them, rather not getting controlled by them. Many times school children get into situations where they cannot manage their emotions and schools can be the right institution to form the base of becoming emotionally balanced individuals.

Disaster Management: Life is uncertain and so are natural disasters. The schools in India need to teach students how to act when a sudden disaster occurs. This is not just helpful in school years but stays their whole life. The best boarding schools in India can teach disaster management to students by projects or mock drills.

Community: Children should be aware of the importance of building community and how to organize, behave and grow through it. This teaches them teamwork, leadership, and community skills that go a long way in life. And the foundation of this starts in school.

Besides social, mental, and environmental issues, there are many other issues that students should start encountering at a young age to develop as strong-minded citizens. These include research, socializing, sustainability, and more. The best boarding schools in India are not just institutions for academic growth but are where children pass out as comprehensive individuals. These real-world issues to be included in the school curriculum are as necessary as academic, creative, and physical development.

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Schools are a wholesome combination of developmental activities that lead to all-round growth of children. Every element and activity that students are involved in contributes in bringing the best out of them and boosting their confidence. Schools are usually associated with academics and related activities but co-curricular and sports play a great part as well. This makes structuring the school curriculum with both scholastic and co-scholastic aspects in a balanced way highly important. Here’s why co-curricular activities are important in schools!

Co-curricular activities

Before we head on to deciding what makes these co-curricular activities so important for the Best CBSE Schools in Nagpur, let’s know what they are. In simplest words, co-curricular activities are the extra ventures organized outside of the classroom education. These activities are not necessarily academic but play a significant role in offering a learning experience to students. These activities include:

Art

Dance

Music

Social Clubs

Book Clubs

Student newspapers

NCC

Debates

Competitions like rangoli, mehndi, decoration, etc.

Exhibitions

Physical Training

Mass Drill

Essay Writing

Extempore

Youth Parliament

Poetry etc.

The following reasons make the need for co-curricular involved and blended with learning:

Promote holistic development

The co-curricular activities are not just a way for students to get some time out of studies and learning but also are a part of the all-around development of children. These are vital to foster artistic skills, creativity and nurture the brain activity for reasoning and problem solving. The Best CBSE Schools in Bhopal organize these activities in such a manner that every student can participate in the same.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy

No matter how engaging and innovative learning aids become, students always need some time off to be involved in enjoyable things. Such co-curricular activities help them get out of the study zone for some time of the day so that they can get back to learning with more excitement and energy.

Interest building

Schools do not award marks for co-curricular activities but grades for these activities on the report card. And the reason being parents and students do not take them seriously. But these activities allow students to discover and skill their interests outside of learning. Moreover, these help them develop the necessary skills of life and learn moral values. Not every student is academically bright and co-curricular offers students to discover what they like and are good at.

Team Spirit

Most co-curricular activities are organized to make students realize how it does not matter if one wins or loses, rather participation matters. Also, participation in teams helps students make work and play together. This is something that goes along a long way in life. By these, they can appreciate each other’s strengths and work together on weaknesses as well.

Life lessons

Life is not always about academics, it is more about other skills like management, leadership, problem-solving, emotional strength, teamwork, and giving your best in every field. The Best CBSE Schools in Raipur organize these co-curricular activities to make them practice these qualities which are much more important to succeed in life.

Boosting confidence

When a child participates in such activities, they gain the confidence to perform in front of people. This eliminates their awkwardness and shyness to be on stage which enhances their communication skills, self-esteem, and confidence. And henceforth are an essential part of the curriculum.

The schools organize several co-curricular activities from the very beginning of the school journey to have exposure to art, craft, games, dance, drama, and much more that turns towards a comprehensive way of learning. From morning assembly to annual functions, from competitions to physical training sessions, and from art to music, these activities play an integral role in school operation and indeed the development of children. As much as it is important to select the right for your child, it is to find a school that involves the right blend of co-curricular activities. Find the Best CBSE Schools in Nashik at Edustoke.

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Writing is one of the most effective ways of communication in today’s world. And when I say writing, its not just limited to books and a paper, but even e-mails and various other social mediums need content to be written. Let’s find out how to encourage writing in children?

The best writers are avid readers. Read to your child every day. You say your child’s in middle school? Read to your child every day. Pick a book above your child’s reading ability, or take turns reading pages in a book of his choice. When your children are young, tell stories in the car, the doctor’s office, or when you’re pushing the stroller. Above all, talk to your children to encourage writing in children.

When your two-year-old scribbles and calls it his name, he’s writing. When your child writes a string of letters and tells you what it says, he’s writing. And when your little one draws a picture and adds a single word, she’s writing too. Call it that. Celebrate it!

So, how to motivate a child to write? When you’re in a rush to head out the door and are scribbling down a grocery list – and your tiny tot hangs over your shoulder and asks what you’re doing – take a second. Show him. Let him watch you make lists, send e-mails, write thank you notes, and compose a note for his lunch box.

Writing doesn’t just happen. It’s a skill that develops slowly after much practice. When parents provide an environment that encourages writing, their children are motivated to write. What kinds of things can you do at home to boost writing development in early childhood? Here are a few simple suggestions for preschoolers, middle and high schoolers, and writers of all ages.

Preschool

Give your children appealing writing supplies. Show them the right 4 year old writing examples.

Put a chalk or dry erase board on the wall at your children’s eye level to encourage them to write.

Write down the stories that your preschoolers tell you.

Encourage your children to make birthday and greeting cards for friends and relatives.

Middle School

Put a wipe-off board up in the kitchen to serve as the family message center.

Children can make their own Family newsletter and write about their experiences about activities done with various family members.

Encourage your children to keep diaries or journals.

Have your child write the grocery list or thank you notes!

Let your children see you write.

Thinking about how to teach a child to write letters? Encourage them to write letters to relatives, friends and help them post it.

High School

Set up a 10-minute period twice a week when you and your children communicate only through writing.

Encourage your children to use e-mail and chat with friends on the computer under your supervision.

Children can use a word processing program with a grammar checker.

Talk about great writers and what inspires you about their writing

Frequent writing assignments in school could help in the development of imaginative skills and writing skills for kids.

All Ages

Encourage your children to read as it will teach them about sentence structure, grammar, and vocabulary. Good readers normally become good writers.

Show your children that you value their writing. Praise content rather than focusing on errors.

Encourage your children to revise and rewrite until they are truly satisfied with the results.

Hope this helped you get some engaging ideas for how to encourage writing in preschool, middle school and any other age. Try the tips out and perhaps these tips would encourage writing in children.
