The all boys school was convened when Col F K M Walter, the Political Agent of the Bharatpur Agency recommended a school in India.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1483\" src=\"https:\/\/www.edustoke.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-1.jpeg\" alt=\"Contact Us - Mayo College, Ajmer\" width=\"545\" height=\"363\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.edustoke.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-1.jpeg 275w, https:\/\/www.edustoke.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/image-1-272x182.jpeg 272w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 545px) 100vw, 545px\" \/>\r\n<figcaption>Mayo-All boys school<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>History\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In 1870, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Richard_Bourke,_6th_Earl_of_Mayo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lord Mayo,<\/a> the then Viceroy and Governor General, came to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ajmer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ajmer,<\/a> where in a Darbar, before the Chiefs of the ruling Princes of Rajputana. He expressed his desire to set up a &#8216;Raj Kumar College&#8217; in Ajmer, \u201cdevoted exclusively to the education of the sons of Chiefs, Princes and leading Thakurs.&#8221;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Interestingly since then several generations of the descendants of many present at Darbar have continued to study at Mayo College.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The all boys school with its vision of, \u201cBuild on tradition and prepare global leaders with characters\u201d emphasises on overall development of the personality of its students. To create independent learners, the all boys school provides a liberal and diverse environment for students. Mayo assures to develop best facilities and faculty to encourage enquiry and excellence among its students. The school foster values of courage, fair \u2013 play, humility, sensitivity and fellowship.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Infrastructure<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Widely spread in 350 acres, the campus has been designed in such a manner where all the essentials required for the holistic growth of the child are made available. The main building of the all boys school was completed in 1885 and was designed by Major Mant. Some of the greatest changes in the school were brought about by Mr.Stow who was the Principal from 1931-1943.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Having a history of teaching and training using the finest faculties and facilities, Mayo ensures the overall development of its students.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Hygienic and spacious dorms, nutritious meals, well equipped infirmary are some of the other eye catching highlights of the school.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Activities<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Mayo has a very rich and strong tradition of cultural activities including Indian Music, Western Music, Dramatics, Debates etc. Various festivals are celebrated in the Houses, School Temple and in the Campus.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>To help the students in self-expression and creative skills, they have been given a wide range of hobbies and work experience projects to choose from: Agriculture, Book Craft, Commercial Art, Electronics, Leatherwork, Metalwork, Music, Photography, Pottery, Sculpture, Typing, Wood Work, Clay Modeling, Stone and Wood Carving, Library Science and Automobile Engineering.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>A cultural-week is organized in the month of April every year. All Houses participate in various categories of Indian music, Western music and stage a Hindi or English Play of about 45 minutes to an hour.
