The motive of Yadavindra Public School, Patiala is to impart an all-round education \u2013 Curricular and co-curricula<\/a>r, so that the students become worthy citizens of India. This will in turn enable them to wholeheartedly enjoy and retain its noble traditions. The Yadavindra Public School aims at disciplined students , educated in mind , body and spirit and hence best suited to serve their country and best fitted to lead others by their example.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

History<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The legacy of Yadavindra Public School lies in the Aitchison College, Lahore (the only Public School in Pre-Partition Punjab).\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

On 12th October, a six member committee was appointed to explore the possibilities of founding the public school in Patiala.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

On 30th October 1947 the Maharaja of Patiala, members of the Committee and departmental heads visited the Stadium and Exhibition Grounds to select the site for the school and for a temporary building for the boarding house. The Yadavindra Stadium was made available for classrooms and BhupindraKothi for boarding house. On 2nd February 1948 the school started functioning with a meagre strength of 21 students and 9 teachers, with Rai Bahadur Dhani Ram Kapila as the Principal.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Academics<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The school prepares students for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education <\/a>(Class X) and the Indian School Certificate (Class XII) Examinations conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi which is successor to the Local Examinations Syndicate of the Cambridge University <\/a>(UK). YPS is a member of the Indian Public Schools’<\/a> Conference and is affiliated to CISCE.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Infrastructure<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The surroundings are picturesque and ideal for an educational institution. YPS campus is of more than 45 acres in size. The main teaching block is a princely structure with a built-in stadium, providing a 400m track, a velodrome and multipurpose facilities. Classes VI to XII are conducted in this block. There is separate Junior School for Classes I to V while for the tiny tots of Prep I and II, there is a separate block to cater to activities of young ones.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The school provides the best of Boarding facilities<\/a> for both boys and girls.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Sports are made an integral part of the curriculum. YPS has a good number of play fields for all vital games. These include Hockey, Soccer, Cricket, Tennis and Basketball.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
