Sports:There are facilities for outdoors and indoor games like Cricket, Football, volleyball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Basketball, lawn Tennis, Chess and Carom. We have qualified coaches for imparting training/ coaching to our students. Our Basketball and Football teams rank the best in Chandigarh.
Our students have represented U.T. Chandigarh in Football, Basketball, Cricket, Table Tennis, TKD and volleyball. In Football and Basketball a few have even represented India.
In the sports arena the school has been achieving distinction year after year. Table tennis was introduced in the school in 1994 and our team bagged the inter school championship in the same year. Basketball was taken up in 1997 and today we can boast of having the best teams in both boys and girls categories. We introduced Football in the year 2003 and have been State Level Champions ever since. The school has produced Football Players and scores of Basketball who have represented India at the International Level. In the year 2004 we adopted Hockey and our Girls won the Chandigarh Women Championship in the very same year. We feel privileged having produced State and National Level players in these games.
We at NPS have involved ourselves in Sports and pledge to spread harmony and friendship through SPORTS. We conduct two major Basketball tournaments to promote Basketball in the city, namely “Rao Jai Singh Memorial Inter-School Basketball Tournament” in memory of the Late Rao Jai Singh, a member of the school Governing Body and “Shanta H. Singh Memorial Basketball Tournament” in the memory of founder principal Late S.h. Singh.
The School is conscious about making the new generation good human beings and responsible citizens. The spirit of lending a helping hand is imbibed in the students and this is evident fr
Alumni:1. Dr.Kranti Garg, Associate professor, Govt. medical College, patiala | 2. Pragati Garg, Scientist D, Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory, Defence Research & Development Organisation, Ministry of Defence, sector 30, Chandigarh.
Safety security hygiene:The provision of safe and reliable access and egress at the school is vital. There are child friendly installations. Student’s safety and security has always been of paramount concern for the whole staff.
The school follows all the guidelines and instructions released by The Government of India, and the CBSE. A safe and secure environment is created with the help of technology- surveillance, even when they are on the move, is not a difficult task with the level of technology available these days.
With washrooms at every floor, separately for boys and girls, and teachers to instil importance of hygiene in students, our students are a picture of robust and resounding health! It is no mean achievement, that from November 2020 to March 2021, remained safe and healthy while the pandemic was wreaking havoc.
Exchange program:
Mr Gregor from Germany visited school and stayed in the school hostel under Teacher International Exchange program sponsored by AIESEC. He spent two months in the school guiding and motivating students, interacting with staff. In the last two decades the school had students from overseas- Brazil, Taiwan, the USA, and Germany attending classes and putting up with host families. Meanwhile our own students visited other countries under student exchange programme. Lakshay Jain of XI Sci went to Germany under short-term youth exchange, (STEP 2009) and stayed with the host family at Emmerich, situated on the banks of the river Rhine. Navneet Singh and Nakul Jain of class XII Com went to Taiwan as exchange students in August 2009. It was organised by the Rotary club. Navneet Singh spent 10 months in the city of Shulin with his host family and attended school there.
