Accommodation detail:The school is divided into 12 Houses, 4 for juniors and 8 for seniors, each named after places and individuals from Maratha history.
Junior Houses are Jankoji, Dattaji, Nimaji and Kanerkhed.
Senior Houses are Jayaji, Ranoji, Mahadji, Jeevaji, Madhav, Shivaji, Daulat and Jayappa.
The four Houses for the junior boys are looked after by Housemasters/Housemothers, matrons and other domestic staff.
The senior Houses have a Housemaster and a Resident Tutor along with the domestic staff. The Housemaster's residence and that of the Resident Tutor are attached to each House to ensure the availability of pastoral guidance.
Hostel medical facilities:The Scindia School has a well-equipped health centre, The Golden Jubilee Hospital. Each student is provided with a medical card. A resident doctor, two nurses and other support staff are available round the clock. It has the main patient hall with 16 beds, and one air-conditioned room should there be a need to quarantine a patient. The infirmary also has a medical store. A child's health, timely and specialized treatment being of prime concern, the school has engaged a panel of specialists from Gwalior city to handle emergencies. There are also tie-ups with the best equipped Nursing Homes in the city, should the need arise.
Mess facilities:The Dining Hall traditions have evolved – from the era of formal European seating arrangement, to the Indian full service style, to the modern, efficient, self-service. With the new Dining Hall, the spic-and-span kitchens have also been modernized. Deep freezers, food processors, ovens, huge grinding devices and other gadgets have not only eased the work of the kitchen staff, but have also enhanced the dining experience. The school Dining Hall effortlessly hosts all students in a single turn. The menu is a blend of popular cuisines, combining taste and variety with nutrition and a balanced diet. The highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained.
Although wholesome meals are served everyday, yet the grand Scholars’ and Sports banquet, held in the honour of outstanding scholars and sportsmen, remains the high point of the Dining Hall calendar.
Aside from the main meals, fresh fruits, snacks and milk are served in the forenoon at 11, and after games in the evening.

Other details:Every evening, come the twilight hour, dressed in crisp white kurta pyjamas, the boys assemble in the amphitheatre called Astachal, the spiritual watering hole of our school.
Astachal is inarguably a defining feature of The Scindia School. Easy to say so; much harder to explain. Is it the incredible beauty of the sun setting behind the ranges with the valley below? Is it the delicate background cadence of the violin or the flute ? Is it the beautiful lines that are read from the Speaking Tree? Or the calming silhouette of the Mahatma ? Maybe it is just the five minutes of quiet prayer or introspection. Perhaps a bit of this and a bit of that. Pines Manik Mahajan, class of 1992, "I so miss the Astachal, those few minutes would transport us to a surreal realm, something we miss in the bustling cities with our hectic schedules. "Why try to explain? Some things in life are best left unexplained! The experience of Astachal remains etched in the consciousness of every Scindian, and this memory survives long after the school years are done and dusted.
