About The School
We at GSIS, follow a rigorous academic programme combined with a plethora of co-curricular and extra curricular activities thereby ensuring that the students passing out from our school have an edge over the others to face the challenges in the world and prove to be worthwhile global citizens. The Schools Mission Statement states, Good Shepherd International School endeavours to prepare each student for academic, social and personal success by creating a community of empowered and diverse learners striving to be globally minded citizens in an atmosphere of mutual respect, understanding and trust. The Management, staff and students are committed to this mission and work together to obtain exceptional results in the academic, cocurricular, extra-curricular arenas and be happily productive in their very lives together at this completely and fully residential school. Good Shepherd International School was founded by Dr.P.C.Thomas in February 1977. An educator to the core, his school is no doubt reflective of his far-sighted vision for Indian education. Dr. Thomas says, I believe in inclusive education as the key to human enrichment and Indias giant strides to further progress. State of the art facilities and infrastructure support his vision and ardent endeavour to make education at GSIS a wholesome and enjoyable experience. A simple yet distinctive and firm underlying philosophy of the school to provide an international education while being steeped in the rich Indian educational tradition and core values, has been received very positively worldwide; it has resulted in the growth of the school to be rated as one of the best international schools in India and to be acknowledged as world class. The institution has further diversified its operations in the field of education to include the Good Shepherd Finishing School. GSIS is in an idyllic setting; two sprawling campuses amidst hills and fields, fine weather and a natural, pollution-free atmosphere satisfy a crucial need in today’s world for students to be able to learn, observe, introspect and contemplate in a most desirable environment. Education in such an ambience is a rewarding experience for our students, truly their “wonder years”. The Primary School for Classes II - VI is at the Fernhill Campus, the former Baroda Summer Palace in Ootacamund, an elegant, charming location overlooking the famed Ooty Lake, amidst the lush, green hills of the Nilgiris. The Middle School, High School and Higher Secondary School spanning Classes VII - XII are located in the sprawling, relatively new 140-acre Palada Campus at Muthorai Palada, 5 kms from Fernhill. In rendering holistic learning, delivered by highly qualified, professional staff, within an outstanding infrastructure, GSIS continues a grand tradition of forty two successful years and prepares to move dynamically into the future.

Boarding / Residential Facilities
All students will have to appear for an Aptitude Test in English, Mathematics and Second Language to qualify for admission. As a matter of policy we do not admit students in Grade X and XII. The Aptitude Test and Personal Interview will be held in the school on any convenient day between March and June every year. Admission will be confirmed only after assessing the performance of the child in the Aptitude Test and in a Personal Interview with the respective Coordinators. On confirmation of admission, parents will be required to submit a Conduct Certificate from the school attended previously along with a Recommendation letter. The question papers will be based on the general syllabi and not on the current textbooks. We do admit students in the second term for Grades II - VIII subject to their Aptitude Test results and the Personal Interview. For prospective students from abroad, the Aptitude Test can be scheduled in the school (or in the Indian Embassy) where the student is studying, provided the parents get a no-objection certificate from the Head of the school / Embassy (and let us know the email address for us to send the question papers). The details will be sent to parents individually along with our call letter, on receipt of registration form and fee from the parents. For admission to Class XI, parents are required to visit the school with the candidate for a Personal Interview and an Aptitude Test in English and Mathematics. The academic reports of classes VIII, IX and X along with a Character Certificate from the last school are mandatory for admission. Kindly note that admission to Grade XI and the choice of subjects / stream will be considered purely based on the results of the board exams and the stream taken.
