Pinewoods International High School & Junior College is a co-educational residential institution established in 1986, run by Mahatma Laxmanji Arya Educational Public Charitable Trust in Panchgani, which is a famous hill resort in Maharashtra, situated at a height of 1,334 meters above sea level and is known not only for its natural beauty but as a bastion of education too. Pinewoods is a residential institution. It offers a clean, happy and safe atmosphere together with the benefits of modern facilities and educational technology within a traditional Indian cultural and moral framework. The School admits students of Indian and foreign origins. Pinewood is accredited to ICSE, SSC and HSC boards. The institution ethos is one of a formal and disciplined approach to both academic and leisure activities. Director Profile

Pinewoods values form the basis of our institutions culture and identity and are inspired by the visions of our Founder and Chairman, Late Justice Dharmendra Parihar. On the basis of our core values we continue building PINEWOODS of which we can be justly proud. He always felt that education was the need of the hour to solve the two most major problems that our country is faced with poverty and the population explosion. That is how the journey began which was difficult but exciting and challenging journey into the field of education. The Trust was thus opened in the name of his father Shri Laxmanji Arya, who was a teacher and is well known for the social work done by him, especially during the time of plague in Rajasthan. Our Founder-Chairman realized that the quality of our population could be enhanced only if we began all reforms right from the grass root level where schooling should be of a high standard. And so it began, Pinewoods International High School & Junior College, Panchgani. Our vision has always been to provide a quality, holistic international education for children from diverse backgrounds and abilities to study together in a safe and secure environment without prejudice or injustice. We believe that it is an important mission for the school to provide a place for highly motivated students to pursue their dreams. Principal Profile

Mrs. Renuka Devendra Parihar is a dedicated educationist. Children are the prime focus of all her effort in work. She sincerely believes that real education lies way beyond books. She did her Master's in English from Jaipur University and got her teachers' training at Allahabad University. She also qualified as a journalist from Delhis Institute of Journalism. During her student days she has excelled in sports and was an avid orator. She has won many prizes in sports, debates and dramatics. She has won athletic championship at university level and played hockey at state level. She has devoted over two decades to the field of education. While she has been a passionate and a caring teacher, as an administrator she has been firmly result-oriented with a steady vision. She is a strong believer of "teaching the child and not the subject" which involves experiential learning strategies that foster critical thinking. She confronts and remedies inadequate teaching practices, creates and maintains a safe school climate. Her thinking and expectations effectively delivers results for academic achievement, climate safety, budget efficiency, and employee/student performance. Her creativity to organize the functions brings out the best work from students and staff. She pursues everything with energy, drive, and a need to finish. She does not give up before finishing, even in the face of resistance or setbacks, steadfastly pushes self and others for results. With her rich experience, multi-faceted personality and qualities she leads the school community with vision and dedication.

Pinewoods provides a pragmatic child-centered environment that makes learning a joyful experience. The School is surrounded by pine trees. The school campus caters to the needs of young, growing children. Schools, being the second home, serves a number of purposes in a child's life. From boosting their confidence to making them learn the importance of team work and socialization, schools does it all. Away from home, schools become the place for children to spend their maximum time. Especially as Pinewoods is a residential school, students are sent to school considering the fact that there is an experienced hand to guide them and also a safe environment promoting their growth. We also accept the fact that infrastructure plays a budding hand in creating a favorable environment for a child's growth. In Pinewoods classrooms, playgrounds and libraries are the most important aspect of school infrastructure. The building is safe and the class-rooms well- ventilated.     The institution has a well furnished hostel to cater to the needs and comfort of the students. Our hostel facility comprises of two separate wings for boys and girls and is kept under supervision of separate wardens for boys and girls respectively. Each room is compact and well equipped with attached W.C., hot water shower, lockers, dresser, and color television with cable connection. We provide remarkable hostel facilities that ensure hygienic living conditions and cater to all round growth and development of students. Some dormitories have the provision of air-conditioning, fridge, etc. Our hostel rooms are spacious, clean and comprises of all the modern facilities and amenities that helps in making the hostel environment jovial and compatible for our hostellers. Our hostel staff is dedicated, efficacious and co-operative and ensures to provide a comfortable study-and-work-oriented environment to our hostellers. Pinewoods prides on being an institution where the quality of boarding provision is second to none. Matron / Warden attend to the immediate needs of pupils, as well as supervise / attend the domestic arrangements such as laundry, bathing, repairs, hairdressing / cutting, etc. We also believe that a vigorous boarding routine gives structure and discipline in preparing for adult life. However we are not insensitive to the emotional and personal difficulties of our pupil. Safety of students is of paramount significance to us. The entire building structure is Earthquake resistant and is equipped with the latest fire fighting equipments. There are CC TV cameras installed at all important locations. The campus is manned by efficient Security Guards throughout the year who only permit authorized access into the campus. The school has a full time DG power back up. The need for safe passage of each child to school and back to the hostel is of paramount importance to us. To ensure safe travel the school has its own school buses. The Compounds are fenced and gated, Security Personals are stationed at both the gates, and therefore the numbers of people who come and go out are checkmated. Clearance is given to any visitor before entering the school premises. Parents, students and workers are issued Identity Cards. The ID card, other details, proper security check is conducted before employing teachers and other employees. Students are trained on security related subjects, students are taught about the good touch and bad touch. Students are taught not to talk to strangers and teachers are asked to be vigilant. The academic standard of the institution is equivalent to any school/college under any State Education Board in India. Students who leave the school with certificates are eligible for admission to any school/college in any part of India I.C.S.E./S.S.C./H.S.C. Examinations are generally recognized as a qualifying examination for admission to Indian as well as foreign colleges. The Management believes in providing the scope for rapport between the teacher and the taught. Hence the number in each class is restricted to 20. The teacher student ratio is normally 1:15. In one Academic Year there are two Unit Tests and two Examinations, viz. Mid Term and Annual Examinations. A system of examination based on the principle of continuous evaluation of the students is followed. Attendance at all examinations is compulsory. Leave is not granted during Tests/Examinations. There are Tests conducted on every Saturday. Utmost care is taken to avoid discrepancy in calculations and evaluations. The result once declared, cannot be questioned/ reconsidered except when there is a proven lapse. Another unique feature of the assessment system is that very bright children are encouraged with monthly award of Distinction and Commendation and have the privilege of signing the Honors Book once a year.

Pinewoods seek to provide opportunities for students to discover personal/individual talents and interests. The co-curricular activities are complement to the students academic (curricular) program, thus developing a balanced education for each student. These activities not only allow opportunity for individual and group/team involvement, but also provide a chance for students to find success and a sense of their own personal worth beyond the classroom. Our co-curricular program is compulsory and is conducted during games times and weekends. Pinewoods believe physical and outdoor education is important components of each students schooling and development.
