Director Profile

Auckland House School is considered to be one of the foremost educational institutions of our country. For this stupendous honour I wish to express my gratitude to all categories of staff who labour lovingly and incessantly for the children. It is due to their contribution that this prestigious institution is moving ahead successfully. My prayer for the students is that apart from proficiency in academics and other activities they should develop traits of character which would make them unique citizens capable of making India worthy of, being called the home of spirituality, non-violence and most of all honesty. Gods hand has been upon us in all we do and I am fully confident that He will continue to be our guide and protector always. In todays techno-savvy and fast changing world, it is our endeavour to help each child who enters the school to imbibe those qualities of mind, heart and values, which would enable them to grow up as good citizens, who would work towards, freeing their motherland from communal violence, dishonesty and corruption and promote love and brotherhood.

Principal Profile

"A home away from home", yes indeed, that is what Auckland House School represents. Standing on Elysium Hill for a century and fifty odd years, this renowned institution has seen thousands of girls pass through its portals. Entering as shy, hesitant, unsure little girls, they go out as confident young women, ready to face and take on the world in their stride. That is what we aim at achieving in the school. Each child is nurtured and moulded as gently as a potter moulds the clay, with their individual abilities and strengths given ample opportunity to grow and develop. The Chapel, the classroom, the stage and the playfield all contribute in this character building process. The world today is one in which values, once cherished, have lost their meaning, where goodness suffers while evil thrives, where people care about I, me and mine and have a complete disregard for any and everyone else. It is for such a world that we have to prepare our children. They are taught to believe in themselves, take on and shoulder responsibility, care for and love each other, growing up to be good human beings, which is, what the world today needs.

The School has a magnificent locale. It is situated on Elysium hill. Its site is one of the best and healthiest in Shimla. The author of Shimla Past and Present writes: This hill is neither scorched in summer, nor frozen in winter. The Hon. Emily Eden, one of the sisters of Lord Auckland writes: The views are too lovely, deep valleys on the drawing room side. Red rhododendron trees bloom in every direction and beautiful shrubberies on all sides of the hill. The climate, the place and the whole thing is quite delightful.
