After Secondary School, It’s Time For Pre-Primary School Reopening

Reading Time: 2 minutes

With the decline in the number of Covid cases, Gujarat is now ready to open the school gates for pre-primary section students. The chief minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel analyzed the present situation of Covid and decided to reopen the preschools and anganwadis from February 17th, 2022. It would be after two years that students of anganwadis, kindergartens, and preschools will head back to the classes in offline mode. The pre-primary school reopening announcement was made by the education minister of Gujarat, Jitu Vaghani.

All the schools in Gujarat were closed down in March 2020 due to the Covid outbreak. After the situation got normal, the schools were opened for offline classes but the pre-primary section was still not conducting physical classes. The classes from 1 to 10th in Gujarat recently started operating on February 1.

The classes for the pre-primary section are resuming after two years, hopefully, this will bring a positive impact on the education sphere and motivate other states with decreasing cases to resume offline classes in schools. Along with this reopening announcement, the Gujarat government also informed schools to strictly follow all the Standard Operating Procedures issued earlier. It was further added that officials managing the operations and the playschool owners have to make the needed arrangements regarding starting education and implementing the Covid SOP.

Other states have also started operating the primary to higher classes in offline medium, however, Gujarat is presently the only state allowing pre-primary kids to attend offline classes. The classes for 9 to 12 are started offline from the beginning of February for most of the states, however, the primary classes are yet to be started in some of the states.

Why is it needed to open pre-primary and primary schools offline?

With the pre-primary school reopening news, a question coming up is why is it so crucial for the learning institutions to start operating offline. The education minister of Gujarat Jitu Vaghani said, “Closing of pre-primary institutions in the last two years has provoked a considerable education loss of learning for kids.” It is much needed to restore the existing education infrastructure to bring back the essence of the education system. Jitu Vaghani further added, “The State govt. Is further preparing a roadmap for overcoming the learning loss in children as they will get into class 1 without any pre-school learning.”

What makes learning in an offline medium necessary for toddlers is the adaptability to online learning. The higher classes students are a bit familiar with gadgets and virtual classes and if not can be trained easily. But this is a tough job for the little ones who are not so used to the digital world and can fall into the habit of excessive use of devices very quickly. While Gujarat has initiated anganwadis, kindergarten, and Pre-Primary school reopening, it would be an equally responsible job to maintain the safety standards and restart the functioning of schools after two years.
