Kendriya Vidyalaya is a central school affiliated to the CBSE board. Primarily built for the kids of government employees, the school also serves other sections of the society. The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan had 20 schools in 1963. With time, this number has increased to 1,248 in 2021 with 1,245 in India and three schools abroad. Kendriya Vidyalaya follows a uniform syllabus all across its schools so that children of government employees don’t face any problems if their parents are transferred from one location to another. Kendriya Vidyalaya has a well structured application process which is same for its pan-India schools. Here is what parents need to know about the Kendriya Vidyalaya admission process:

Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission Form

The advertisement for KV admissions is released in February and applications begin in the last week of February with April as the last date for applications. 

The interested parents/candidates can download the application form from the official website of Kendriya Vidyalaya https://kvsonlineadmission.kvs.gov.in/ or can collect it from the Principal. There is no application fee for the admission form.  

Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission Criteria

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission is done on the basis of following precedence for both transfer cases and fresh admissions:

  • Central government employee ward
  • Army and ex-army man ward
  • Children of State government employees
  • Single girl child quota
  • Private or self employee staff

Reservations

KVS follows the following reservation:

  • 15% seats for Scheduled Caste
  • 7.5% seats for Scheduled Tribes
  • 27% seats for Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) 
  • 3% seats for Differently Abled-children

1. Can a normal child get admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya?

Yes, a normal child can get admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya, however it will be a tough call for them. 

2. Is KVS admission started 2022?

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission starts in February last week and ends in April last week. The applications are available on the KV official website, https://kvsonlineadmission.kvs.gov.in/ 

3. What is the age limit for Kendriya Vidyalaya?

The age limit for admission in KVS is 6 years as of 31 March to get admission in class 1. The upper limit of age is 8 years as of 31 March for the same. 

4. Which syllabus is followed by Kendriya Vidyalaya?

Kendriya Vidyalaya is affiliated to the CBSE and follows the curriculum specified by the board. 

5. Is Central School and Kendriya Vidyalaya the same?

Yes, Kendriya Vidyalaya is the same as the Central School. As the schools were established to cater to the educational needs of Central government employee’s kids, it is also known as the Central School.
