The advertisement for KV admissions is released in February and applications begin in the last week of February with April as the last date for applications.

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission is done on the basis of following precedence for both transfer cases and fresh admissions:

- Army and ex-army man ward
- Children of State government employees
- Single girl child quota
- Private or self employee staff

KVS follows the following reservation:
- 15% seats for Scheduled Caste
- 7.5% seats for Scheduled Tribes
- 27% seats for Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL)
- 3% seats for Differently Abled-children
