Located in Mylapore, the cultural centre of Chennai, P. S. Senior Secondary School affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education was started in the year 1976, with a view to cater to the needs of the public, especially in south Chennai and more particularly the employees of Central Government and industrial houses with an All India setup in the matter of education of their children. The school runs classes from Pre KG to class 12. The medium of instruction is English and the other languages taught are Tamil, Hindi and Sanskrit.Since its inception in 1976, in a little over 4 decades, the school has recorded phenomenal growth both in size and stature. From 265 students and 13 teachers at the beginning, the school today has a student strength of 2800 students and nearly 180 teachers and other members of staff. Known for its academic prowess, the school has regularly sent students to International Olympiads. Graduates of the school joined reputed colleges of higher education such as IIT, NIT, Anna University in India, and premier institutes of higher education in the US, UK and Singapore.
