The school was founded in 1868 by Rev. John Braz Fernandes, (Vicar of the Church of Our Lady of Salvation, Dadar) and was then known as St. John’s School. In 1875, Dr. Antonio da Silva of Dadar through the good offices of Rev. John B. Fernandes, left by his will the bulk of his estate for the foundation of a high school. The school then came to be known by its present name. In June 1963, the Technical stream was shifted to a new building at Veer Savarkar Marg, Dadar. In 1978, the Junior College of Commerce was started. The school is a Catholic, minority institution, administered by a Catholic Trust. The school is an English medium institution affiliated to the Archdiocesan Board of Education and prepares pupils for the Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSC).
