The New Age School, Pune is the 50th Campus of KES and the 26th School of Kasegaon Education Society (KES). KES was established in 1945 by the Late Rajarambapu Patil, a freedom fighter and statesman of yesteryears. With each new Campus, KES has been adding to its account a new endeavour. The New Age School is a CBSE Pattern K-12 School. It started with pre-primary classes in 2021-22. In the academic year 2023-24, it got all the mandatory government permissions to run primary classes. Presently, the School is running classes from Nursery to Grade 4 which shall be expanded till Grade 12 in due course . The School has a spacious premise of 3 acres on which a new building of 40,000 sq. ft. stands. The entire campus has hundreds of trees carefully chosen to acquaint students with the flora and to serve the purpose of emotional nourishment through an eco-friendly and green campus. The classroom furniture is designed suiting to activity-based learning and for students' comfort. The campus is fire-safe and accessible by a wheelchair. Besides the playground adjacent to the School building, KES is planning to develop a full-fledged sports complex on 5 acres of land just behind the School. Thus, it's going to be one of the very few campuses in Pune Metropolis to have such an ambience. The New Age School, Pune has been established by KES with a strong motivation to experiment and establish certain educational visions. After hundreds of years of research and experimentation in education, it has been agreed upon that effective education necessarily needs the creation of an appropriate ecology. This is reflected in our Vision, viz. ‘To be a community where all children feel loved, respected and encouraged to develop to their fullest potential.’ Every word in this Vision demands purposeful and planned efforts and teamwork. For this Vision to come true, it’s very clear that we shall have to work together to build a safe, respectful and nurturing environment focused on maximising each child’s sense of well-being and acquisition of skills for life and learning. When you expect virtuous children, it can’t be only by preaching. We have to put forth appropriate values like Respect, Integrity, Commitment, Responsibility, and Excellence which would be LIVED by everyone right from the management to everyone on the Campus! While setting up a CBSE School in Pune Metropolis, it is a small attempt to deliver pre-primary to secondary education in our way. As an educational organisation, we have been witnessing new educational thoughts and the resulting transformations in educational methodologies. In the last three decades, constructivism and outcomes-based learning have pervaded the space of educational philosophy or rather learning philosophy. However, the implementation of these needs expertise, a lot of detailing, facility creation and the hard work of a team of competent teachers. In a way, the facilitation of better learning is a pursuit. At The New Age School, Pune, we are experimenting with a blend of various learning philosophies. This will need more of ‘doing’ from the students’ side. The students won’t sit in a classroom for hours but rather move from one learning place to another. We have gathered novel learning resources for them. The students would go through real-life experiences which they are largely missing in the oppression of ‘Virtual Reality’. Students would be more aware and concerned about the ecology. After all, we are part of it and educators need to imbibe these values in the new generation. There are two more things associated with the initiative of establishing this School by KES which need elaboration. Why did KES decide to start an English medium school and that too in the Pune Metropolitan Region? The KES is aware that Pune has no dearth of schools. However, Pune is a place where establishing any new trend in education would undergo a critical examination by society and scholars. The only other concern is do such schools create youngsters who are cut off from their roots.The comfort of the English language would make students more capable of representing their history and culture globally… Thus, at The New Age School, we have coupled the benefits of English medium school with experiential learning and making children more aware of their surroundings. The New Age School, Pune will soon stand out as an ‘Experiential School’ in Pune. We believe this would nurture better Indian citizens .
