History
The International School Bangalore (TISB) was envisaged in the year 2000 by the school’s Chairman, Dr K P Gopalkrishna. A fine visionary and a great leader in the field of education. The school today is one of India’s most reputed, independent, selective, international boarding and day schools. Dr Gopalkrishna is also the founding Chairman of The National Public Schools (NPS) which have become a benchmark that many schools seek to replicate under his able guidance.
The first NPS school was opened in 1959 in Rajajinagar, Bangalore and was followed by further schools in Bangalore, Chennai, Mysore and following an invitation by the Government of Singapore, NPS International Singapore was opened in 2008.
Academics
TISB has delivered consistently high academic standards in both IB and IGCSE and strives to combine traditional values with a modern, global approach to life and learning.
The primary years (3 to 11 year olds) learn on the pattern of the National Curriculum for England and The Cambridge International Primary Programme. The core subjects are a key focus area and the curriculum is enriched with a trans-disciplinary process that prepares young students to be self-confident and respectful of other cultures.
The secondary years (11 to 15 year olds) when the student-led activities are increasingly discipline-based in preparation for the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Examination in class X. In classes XI and XII, the school follows the IB Diploma Programme.
Infrastructure
The 140 acre, beautifully landscaped campus located NAFL Valley, Whitefield Bangalore has all modern day facilities for the students. The Houseparents are resident members of staff, who are also non-teaching members of the boarding community, whose role is to support the Deputy Heads of House.The International School Bangalore encourages students to indulge in various activities post school hours and immerse co-curricular activities.
