Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Karnataka State Secondary Education Examination Board SSLC examinations have started this Monday, 28th March, and will be held till 11th April. The exams will be conducted in two-time batches 10.30 a.m. to 1.45 p.m. for first language and core subjects and 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. for the second and third language. Students will get 2 hours and 45 minutes for writing with an additional 15 minutes for reading the question paper. The board examinations are not just about good preparation for the subject but also about making the best use of the writing time. Here are some tips for the students to manage time efficiently during the exam:

Plan your strategy for the paper

Before the writing time begins, students get 15 minutes to read the question paper. This is an integral time that can help the students in deciding their approach to writing the paper. Read the question paper carefully and determine the question you know well. It is better to attempt the questions that you know well as those will take less time. Once those questions are completed, you can head on to other questions you know with less accuracy. Only after the questions, one can attempt are completed one should go for questions they don’t have any idea about.

Get an idea of the paper pattern beforehand

The KSEEB has eliminated the MCQ-based paper pattern followed last year due to the Covid situation and switched back to the descriptive answers. With the change in the paper pattern, the students must have the right idea of the paper pattern. If the student is familiar with the pattern, approaching the paper can be better. Students can get the new paper pattern on the Karnataka State board’s official website.

Solve some sample papers while preparing

Students can find sample papers of respective subjects on the KSEEB SSLC official website. One can download the examination papers and practice them while revising. This would not just help the students in evaluating their preparation but also help in speeding up their writing. It is important to check if one can write the paper in the given duration.

Prepare according to the blueprint

The board releases the blueprint of every subject that mentions marks weightage for each topic. Although every chapter should be given equal importance, for scoring better marks, preparing the subject according to the blueprint is a better idea. Similarly it is important to find the correct blueprint for finding the right school for your child, find the best boarding schools in Maharashtra with Edustoke.

Give time for presentation

While writing the paper, presenting the answer nicely has a huge impact on the examiner checking the answer sheet. A well-written answer gets more attention from the examiner and fetches good marks. So, it is a good practice to include headings, bold the important points, draw a line after each question, and put the correct question number before the answer. But it is important to finish the question paper first and then consider the extra points for the presentation.

It is as important to follow the right strategy not just for preparation but also while writing the answers. And it is needed to build that before the exam only. Solving as many sample papers as possible, taking tests, and revising can help in coming up with the right plan to manage time efficiently during exam.
