Hyderabad International School, Moghalpura - Schools in Hyderabad ...

The International School of Hyderabad (ISH) was founded in 1981 under the trusteeship of the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), both non-profit organizations. This gives ISH the similar status of a school administered by a foreign/consular mission. ISH is formally managed by the Director General of ICRISAT with the help of ISH School Advisory Committee guiding the Head of School in leading and managing. The Head of School is responsible for the day-to-day operations.

The first IGCSE Cambridge Exams was administered in 2003 and the first IB Diploma was given in 2007, when the first class of IB students graduated from ISH.

ISH was the first school in India to receive international accreditation from the Council of International Schools (CIS) and continues to be accredited by CIS and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). ISH is also the first school in Telangana (former Andhra Pradesh) to be authorized to offer the IB diploma.

ISH is an English medium, co-educational day school that provides education for children between the ages of 2 to 18 years old. At present our student body consists of over 400 students from more than 20 different countries. The majority of the students at ISH are from overseas. That said, ISH is able to admit a limited number of Indian citizens. Over 34% of the ISH staff is international coming from 12 different countries. This is a really unique feature of ISH compared to other international schools in Hyderabad. The school’s preferred class size is 15 students.

ISH focuses on preparing students for university and indeed almost all our students go to prestigious universities across the world, with majority attending the universities in the United States and Canada.

ISH believes that each student is unique. The school takes an individualized and personalized approach to learning. Our aim is to encourage each student to not only strive to achieve academic excellence but also aspire to become a socially aware and responsible individual who is well equipped to excel in a global society.

From reception (Kindergarten) to grade 8, ISH follows its own curriculum based on best practices from the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Europe. In grades 9-10, ISH follows the IGCSE, an international curriculum developed and administered by Cambridge University International Examinations. In grades 11-12, ISH follows the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, the most widely recognized international curriculum in the world.

ISH is accredited by two foreign accreditation agencies: the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS).

ISH has an inclusive admission policy; students with a diverse range of ability levels and educational experiences are accepted into the school.

Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs): The Elementary and Secondary Schools offer a mix of Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) that are both age appropriate, challenging and engaging. These programs be they performing arts, crafts or sports are open to all students so as to help students develop skills and an appreciation of life-long learning, making friends, having fun, learning to play as a member of a team, learning to play fair and improve self esteem.

CCAs for grades 1-5 and 6-12 are offered in both semesters. We believe that participation in these programs will result in the better health and fitness, stronger physical skills, an enhanced understanding and appreciation of performing arts along with the increased social interactions.

Creativity, action and service (CAS) is an integral component and the life line of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

CAS helps students to enhance their personal and interpersonal development through experiential learning. At the same time, it provides an important counterbalance to the academic pressures of the rest of the diploma programme. Each student has a different goal and need and CAS helps them to gain such experiences that are profound and life changing.

CAS has been integrated into the ISH middle and high school curriculum through after school activities.
