History

In 2004, KALS was set up by Datha Karumbiah and Ashwini Nachappa, to widen the scope of education and give Sports as much importance as Academics and bring it back into the mainstream of education.

Former International Hockey player, Datha headed some of India’s leading automobile companies having an experience of over 15 years in the industry. In 2003 along with Ashwini, he decided to commit their time and resources in providing Coorg with a one of a kind education and sports institution in the country.

Academics

The syllabus prescribed at KALS Coorg is ISC (Indian School Certificate) from CISCE , New Delhi. Here it is believed that the ability of the brain to respond with sensitivity requires  wholesome development of the brain’s innate intelligence and this goes well beyond text-books and the curriculum.

Infrastructure

Nestled among the picturesque mountains of South Coorg with beautiful landscapes, serene beauty and pollution free environment, KALS has one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. The infrastructure of KALS is spread over 28 acres, it is designed to blend with nature. Strategically planned academic block, residential area, staff residences, sports facilities all merge delightfully into one scenic environment.

Activities

The sports infrastructure is world-class and includes a full-fledged hockey ground, a 400m synthetic track for athletics, a 25 m swimming, pool, a 10m shooting range, basketball courts and four cricket nets. 

Life skills as a part of the curriculum is included along with academics so that students learn and excel in these skills. The curriculum aims at improving the social skills, thinking skills and emotional skills of students.
