Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, is an all-girls residential school, located in the beautiful fort city of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The reality that stands today as Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, came into existence in 1956. It was founded with a purpose of providing world class education for the girls in post-independence India

History

Scindia Kanya Vidhyalaya, fondly known as SKV, was founded by Late H.H Shrimant Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia. It was inaugurated in the honorary presence of then President, Dr Rajendra Prasad and His Highness Maharaja Jiwaji Rao Scindia on 28th October 1956. 

Academics

Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya with a vision and mission to educate the students stressing upon Indian values and all round development. The entry level for the students in the school is at VI grade. With the motive of reducing the stress level among the students and encouraging creativity, the school tries to develop the skill of “creating”, as against “copying” by providing an experiential learning curriculum in initial years.  The school is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education New Delhi and the medium of instruction is English.  This helps the students in becoming independent and choosing the content of their interest.

Infrastructure

Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya is located in the Gwalior city, which is 300 km from south of the national capital Delhi. The architecture of the school campus is designed keeping in mind the safety and comfort of the students. The dorms in school are spacious and well ventilated, and headed by dorm mentors and matrons. Students are served with nutritious and balanced meals cooked hygienically in the school’s kitchen. To ensure the good health of the students, school has a well-equipped infirmary where medical assistance is available all throughout the day.

Activities

With the motto of “Over all development of the child”,Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya offers a variety of activities to its students. Activities like sports, drawing, music, dramas and debates are few favourites among the students.

To prepare the students for upcoming examinations and entrance tests, from time to time the school conducts workshops and seminars. SKV’s Summer Program in association with institutions like Oxford Royale Academy, National Student Leadership Conference, St. George’s University, Indian school of design and innovation, OP Jindal Global University are among the most talked about. With the help of these programs Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya introduces its students to the opportunities available post the school.

The school offers an indigenous agglomeration of extracurricular activities for its students to pursue their interests and to carve out a path of expertise for themselves in various walks of life. Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya to provide a multifaceted experiential learning thus providing the students with a plethora of options like sports and games, music, dance, fine arts, craft, dramatic arts, etc.

 Alumni

The school register has the record of hosting the two Scindia princesses, Padma (akka) Raje and her younger sister, Usha Raje Scindia as the first two students. Two grand – daughters of Dr Rajendra Prasad were also among the earliest students.
